We have 6 month old custom furniture still under warranty from The Sofas and Chairs Store in Omaha, NE. Two pieces need repair. I've called, but never get a live person, always get their voice mail system. I've left a message but no one has called back. I would like to contact the owner to ask for help/voice my complaint.More

I had a See N Say game when I was a child that featured a number of different types of furniture. I know it had a loveseat and possibly a porch swing, but it was all sofas and chairs. Does anyone remember this or know what it was called? I was a child in the early 80s so that's when it would be from.More

We own Chinese antique-styled teak furniture finished with green silk. Over the years, the silk has gotten worn in places. Who does one approach for an upholstery job? How much would one expect to pay (ballpark, obviously) for reupholstering a sofa, two chairs, and two ottomans if using silk? Thank you for your time.More

Unfortunately, reupholstering furniture is very expensive. Check your telephone book for listings, call a furniture store to see if they can recommend someone or even a drapery workroom (someone who custom makes draperies). If they are antiques, you may want to try a reputable antique dealer for a referral.
Silk is very delicate and pricey. It does not hold up well in upholstery pieces.
The labor could vary. If the sofa needs cushion replacement, you would have to factor that in. Ballpark figure $1600.00.
I am assuming your two chairs are fully upholstered since you have two ottomans, so ballpark, $650.00 and $450.00 for the two ottomans. This is one of the reasons that people end up buying new pieces of furniture. These prices might be a little high. I would take some pictures and bring them with you for quotes and if you can, take a cushion to be evaluated.
Good luck. More
someone said it is antimcasser. Is this the correct spelling?More

It is an antimacassar. (spelling?)
Apparently there was a hair product called "McCassar" (ditto spelling?) and the little doily thing would 'catch' the oily goop and one could wash it and protect the furniture. Only men used the goop, but then they are the ones sitting down while we serve them tea and cake at 4pm, arn't they? Or reading the paper. Ladies wore hats in those days so no need for the antimaccassar. More
