I've just bought a new printer of Amazon.co.uk last weekend, arrived Tuesday lunchtime - It's the Epson Stylus DX4000 multifunction Printer / Scanner / Copier, costs £49.94 but comes to £58.63 if you choose express delivery like I did + you also got to buy the USB lead to hook it up to your computer seperately (USB Type A to USB Type B)........ and it's bloody brilliant. As far as I know, EPSON printers are known for going easy on ink usage, and the cartridges look pretty cheap on Amazon UK too..... prices starting at £4.75 each (not bad... ink for my old XEROX which expired last Friday was about £7.99), and you can also buy multi-packs containing all 4 cartridges for £20.03, which works out at £5 each. Here's a direct link to the printer in question: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Epson-Stylus-DX4000-Multifunction-Printer/dp/B000HVA40I/sr=8-1/qid=1172188330/ref=pd_ka_1/203-9338484-3266364?ie=UTF8&s=electronics and I wouldn't trust cheap ink if it's not made by the same company that made the printer, as I'm sure that's partly what screwed up my old one.  More

Our family's been through three Lexmark printers, and they've all turned out abominable...the black ink runs out within three weeks, at best! In your experience, or from what you've heard, what kind of printers for personal use (we can't have the bulky business printers) would you recommend based on how long the ink cartridges last without refill or getting a new one?  More

The canon i series has proved both practical and economical. Helps that COSTCO carries the cartridges. Good luck.  More

I have 2 different printers I use many times a day. I have one file I use for one printer and another file to print on the 2nd. Can I set these files to automatically print to the printer of my choice without having to change the Printer every time I go to print one of the files?  More

I have 3 computers and they are all wireless to a router/modem. My printer is hooked up to one computer. The guy at Best Buy says I don't need a wireless adapter for my printer. He says I just go into the network connections or something and then just share printers - I already tried this and need more help with it and I cant find out how to link it to my other two computers?  More

what your gonna want to do is go to control panel>Network and internet connections>and at the bottom>NETWORK SETUP WIZARD. thats what will get you to a wizard, click next and fill everything out. as in this computer connects through a residential gateway (referring to our router) and click next, fill out the description as in laptop or desktop kitchen etc. dont change the computer name though. no need for that. click next, after you click next its going to tell you that you need to create a WORKGROUP name. enter anything you like. as in bobs network or home or just leave mshome in there. after clicking next it will set it up for THAT computer and THAT computer ONLY (unfortunatly lol) tell it to TURN ON file and printer sharing and then click next, your gonna wanna click the last circle that says "do not create a network setup disk, i do not need to run wizard on another computer" or something along the lines of that. then your gonna wanna repeat the process on all your computers, making them of the SAME DOMAIN. this is important so they all can communicate. your gonna need to restart right after eaach time you do this though. after that go to all the computers that dont have the printer attached to it and open control panel>printers and other hardware>ADD A PRINTER. that will bring up another wizard just click next and make sure you click A NETWORK PRINTER INSTALLED ON ANOTHER COMPUTER. click next, check the "browse for a printer" and click next. it will bring up your network and show you all the computers on it and the names that you gave them ie. kitchen laptop etc. find the computer with the printer installed on it ie. (//home-9842y59234/hp officejet 4200 series) then just hit next and check make this my default printer and your ready to go! repeat on each computer that needs it. hope this helps. its vague but im tryin man =D lol good luck.  More
