If wage rates increased, how would that affect the supply of personal computers?More
Asked by: tonytbag
you mean the amount of money they paid the employees, i don't know im only 15. but i suppose that the company might have to either increase the price on personal computers or buy less supplies and produce less personal computers. if they keep where they are, than they will just make less money per computer. I have 4 personal computers (1 good laptop, 1 good desktop, 2 older laptops). Laptop is my primary machine. I'll probably convert the desktop to a MythTV media box. Per Ask.Metafilter, I'll consider making one laptop a "gateway" machine to the network. I can use one as a staging ground and subversion repository (for software engineering purposes - RoR). Any other ideas? I cant help but feel there is something I'm missing. What about turning one laptop into a car pc?More
I am looking to get a personal computer. I would prefer a laptop as I do not have much space. Honestly, I am technology challenged, therefore, I need some help. I want a computer that is REALLY fast, holds a fair amount of memory (pics, videos, movies, music, files, etc) Those are my two main important things. I don't know anything about processors or how fast something should be. Well, I think you get the point. If someone could help me understand or suggest a computer... that would be awesome!!!! thanks for the help!!!!!
I'd say my max limit is about $1500.00. P.S. I do not play games so I don't need a super high tech notebook.More

What's your budget?
Surely you have a limit to what you can spend.
How big would you like the screen to be?

Being that personal computers are cheaper now then they was five years ago, what effects does including them in the CPI market basket have on the inflation rate?More
Asked by: prettyme25y
These are two different questions.
Consumers can identify improvements in PCs or other products. Products are always being marketed to consumers as new and improved, even when the improvement is slight. The mid-market product of today is significantly better than the mid-market product of 5 years ago, and this is especially true of computers, whose memory and storage capacity keeps growing exponentially, even as the costs to make them fall, as do their prices.
If they are in the CPI and their price goes down, it pulls the CPI down. But they are only one of many things in the CPI, so it is more accurate to say that falling prices for PCs offset some of the increase in prices for other goods in the CPI market basket. More
(a) An increase in the number of consumers in the personal computer market.
(b) A technological breakthrough that makes it much less costly to produce computer chips.
(c) A decrease in the wage paid to electrical engineers.
(d) A environmental regulation that makes it more costly to produce computer chips.More

I say D, because the main reason computers are so cheap today is the low cost of high powered computer chips. More
