I would get whatever costs the least. The only thing about a dish is that if the weather is gnarley, then there is that fuzzy picture you have to deal with.  More

My standard dvd player shows an amazing picture on my HDTV. I am getting an HD receiver next week and just wondering if the picture will be getting any sharper. I am told it will, but how is possible for the eyes to see anything sharper than a dvd? For you people watching HDTV...Do you really see a difference between HDTV (HD source) and watching a regular DVD?  More

If I understand you correctly you are asking if the picture you will get with an HD receiver will be better than the picture you have gotten with a standard DVD player. The answer is that on channels that are in full HD showing a program in true HD, YES. Not all of the channels you will get are HD and not all of the programming on some HD channels are in true HD. But yes, the improvement will be quite noticeable on true HD sources.  More

We have a ps3 and I have heard that we won't get the awesome graphics unless we have an hdtv. I've seen televisions at walmart that say hdtv on them that are only like two hundred dollars. Is this because it's not actually an hdtv? No way am I spending more then two hundred dollars on a tv for this thing. Thanks for your help.  More

Well here's your answer. Either will work. Basically what you are comparing is a tv that has the ability to display an HD signal from another source (like a PS3 or a digital cable box), and a set that can retrieve HD signals from the air with an antenna. (HD-ready monitor and an HD Television respectively). If you buy an HD-ready set at Wal-Mart it wil work just fine if you are using a PS3 on it as long as you use the right hook-ups from the back of the PS3 to the back of the tv. The proper wires are known as Component RCA cables.  More

It is a 60" Pioneer Elite Plasma HDTV. The picture is awesome right out of the box so I'm not that concerned about enhancing the picture. But I am interested in reducing it's power consumption and extending the life of the TV if calibration will do this. A technician wanting to perform the service told me that it would.  More

Any difference would be insignificant.  More
